This is the 1st comprehensive web based directory for ‘alternative health’ across Auckland. Assisting people seeking a specific health modality as well as for qualified health practitioners to come under one umbrella, where all concerned can obtain the benefits of an easy to access web directory. This is the index that we have been waiting for.

Just choose what modality or need that you require, then select your suburb, click search and up will come the closest practitioner to where you reside.

Then click on that practitioners name and it will instantly direct you to their home page where you may either read, (hear and or watch a video) of what the practitioner does, their specific methods, case histories, recommendations etc.

There are also articles on health, news, updates as well as a calendar of events.

The need for a web based directory to alternative, holistic, preventative and natural medicines can propel Aucklanders and New Zealanders into a realm of really honouring their body, by making sure it is sustained in the most comprehensive way possible.

Remember, … “You are all you have got.” And the requirement to cherish this 3 dimensional vehicle of 50 trillion + cells is an imperative if we wish to negotiate the road to health and success. And this includes a healthy, freed up non-toxic mind as well as a pure and vibrant spirit.

Matty was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis at age 5 after being ill for two years.

At age 12 he was told if he did not have his bowel removed and replaced with a colostomy bag he would have cancer by age 19 and not live to see 30. Today he is 35 and is a picture of health. This is his story.

By eating raw foods which includes grass and virtually every thing like weeds that we find growing in our back lawn, such as clover, kikuyu, puha, plantains, dock, dandelion etc he was able to cure his disability.

What Matt also found is that the wider the spectrum of leafy greens we eat, the greater the protection from being burnt by the sun. And that humanity maybe being affected by sunburn, because of excessive intake of mass produced, heated, powdered, packaged and tinned foods etc when nature outside gives us phyto-foods to sustain us and enable us to remain protected from the suns ultra violet light among 'many other things.'

Matt who is also a top NZ animation artist, working with Warner Brothers and trained by one of Disney's top animators is a co-founder of Animator Inc, his own animation company, and has recently completed and directed an independent film called " Real N Raw" about reclaiming your health using simple and easy to access solutions.

Listen to how other peoples globally have actively lived to very old ages, by eating raw foods, close to the land, on their own doorstep.

Do we in NZ take the environmental crises that is rapidly unfolding seriously?

The answer has to be NO. And do the major governing political parties in this country see it as a grave situation, and the answer has to be a definite NO! Particularly when elected members refuse to want to educate themselves and learn from scientists as to what is actually happening.

There is a difference between pale green and dark green political consciousness. Pale green methods mean to just slow things down, and Dark Green systems mean, take a different course and strategy.

What is needed is the will of the people to “Tick the Box” every three years on our voting paper, to tell the Government that we want a nationwide stand, an in-depth dialogue, that continuous economic growth is without doubt going to take our future away, and that our children are going to be left with the legacy of our refusal to face reality.

"This has now become a moral issue!"

Listen to a 40 year Values campaigner, who asks the hard questions and requests us to self reflect today, and also look at the option of Dark Green Options and also what the ancient Chinese Taoists offer.  Being a way we can look at nature and follow a philosophical system that brings us to a more open and honest way of working with natural systems and each other.

Nick who worked along side Jonathan Porritt, noted his leadership qualities as leader of the Ecology Party, before it changed to the Green Party. (Porritt is the son of NZer Sir Arthur Porritt).

Nick also managed a very switched on electoral organizing team to obtain 24.5% of the vote, almost 50,000 votes, in the English election for the European Parliament, heading off Labour and the Social Democrats, but as England did not have proportional representation, missed out!  Noting that Britain is not really a democracy, but an oligarchy!

He was also involved in working towards keeping water boards in local communities hands when privatization was buying up water boards throughout Britain and that we need to be aware that water privatization could come to NZ very soon.

A Quaker who meditates and is a vegetarian, and sees the Quaker values of Equality, Peace, Simplicity, Truth and Integrity as being of vital importance in the near future, for humanity's survival.

Working with school children, hear of the Waste project at Western Springs College in Auckland as a precursor to larger initiatives regarding Recycling, Landfill and Food scraps.

Co author and compiler of the book ‘Carbon Neutral’ by 2020 with Quentin Atkinson; this has had superb reviews in this country, we hear how quickly it came together with a large number of expert contributors laying out most of the possibilities for NZ to become truly a sustainable green country by 2020.

As a psychologist she notes that humans need to belong and have warm human relationships, and be effective by doing something successfully that validates us and have the integrity to feel that we can be who we are, (or who I am).

Working in groups of people such as Transition Towns can really validate oneself and give feelings of belonging.

Niki as a tireless worker for social justice with loads of enthusiasm, lays out possibilities to engage in social, political and especially ecological change and inspires us all to never give up!

Galina, originally from Minsk in Belorussia of the old Soviet Union, has had a lifetime working with children, their learning, with family and extended family.

From non-cesarean birth which is best, to parenting via the "Sunday Club" of specific quiet times with ones child, brings about a profound healing and bonding.

After being caught in the Chernobyl nuclear disaster that affected the Ukraine, Belorussia and many parts of Europe, Galina a young mother, found herself involved in taking news crews through the area and becoming involved in health and healing of those affected by radiation. Particularly using alternative methods including herbal remedies.

By working and playing with children she found that when adults play and become more child like, profound changes happen for all involved.

Being in the now, and in particular singing with your children, and in singing words builds a wonderful rapport that validates a deepening relationship with ones child establishing trust, which enables good, warm hearted and successful parenting.

In 1980 Jakob von Uexküll founded with his own resources the Right Livelihood Award, also known as the Alternative Nobel Prize, which is awarded each year in the Swedish Parliament in Stockholm.

Since 1980, 133 people and organisations from 57 countries have been recognised in this way for their great commitment and selfless service to a better world.

In 2007, after many years’ preliminary work, Jakob von Uexküll also founded The World Future Council. The Council comprises 50 internationally known figures, including several winners of the Alternative Nobel Prize.

They work as the “voice of future generations” to ensure that we pass on a healthy world worth living in, to our descendants.

Listen to a very connected person describe how the privileged elite are grimly holding on to the old paradigm, when we urgently need to be working towards a more sustainable and just world view.

New Zealand's current stance regarding Co2 emissions is being seen as outrageous for a country with such a clean green image and that the old ways of activism, including civil disobedience and communicating personally with our elected representatives are as valid today as they were in the past.

As an environmental artist and activist he works mainly with recycled materials to raise awareness of the importance of waste minimization, recycling, & the conservation of the natural world.

“My aim is to inspire people to take personal responsibility for their own environmental footprint, & to encourage them to “make a difference”.

Martin has spent time at street level picking up household trash and is now one of NZs up and coming garbage artists, but much more, he is using his art awareness of industrial and household waste to make us more conscious of our propensity as the 5th largest producer per capita of garbage and trash, to change our ways.

From his home in Browns Bay he trash-trawls, dumpster-dives & beachcombs to collect detritus from the global scrapheap to make into recycled art - mainly sculptural pieces & contemporary fashion accessories.

Listen to an entertaining and often very funny discussion on how rubbish has been the off-handedly got rid of since we in NZ lost the plot after being potty trained.

Logan Muller is one of Unitec's Senior Academic researchers. His expertise is the use of IT in the development of sustainability.

His PhD is in socially and environmentally sustainable business. He has implemented the model in New Zealand and in the remote areas of the Andean mountains in Peru.

The model has been adopted by the Peruvian Government and endorsed by the Latin American Telecommunications Council as a successful poverty alleviation method.

However as one of  NZs most active academics in IT for Sustainability, Logan is making changes at the grass roots and hands on level and policy making areas.

Listen to a passionate story of insight and experience on how we can solve so many of our challenges here on Spaceship Earth, and empower people particularly those who have never had a say, through IT, especially utilising the world wide web.

As an emergent species the possibility to instigate positive change starting from oneself, families, and community, to cluster of communities is now in the ascendant.

The tools are here, and are available to lift the aspirations of the many into a more heart centred and conscious relationship with society and the land both locally and globally.

Warren Snow of Envision New Zealand is one of the countries foremost authorities on industrial and household waste and packaging. He runs an environmental and local economic development consultancy providing advice and support services for communities and businesses working towards sustainability.

In our Western society, when it comes to waste management there is a general silent adage of: "out of sight out of mind" and we don't want to know anything about it. Also, being un-glamorous, and lacking any sex appeal, both government and business, see it as something that has to be dealt with swiftly and efficiently, with a quick fix being the optimal result.

Hear how innovative, conscious waste recovery centers are endeavouring to get community business's up and running to recycle and find ways for waste minimisation at the same time, give local employment and become successful enterprises.

Also, hear that NZ was one of the leaders in waste management 30 years ago and find out how we have decided on colossal land fills that have no guarantees as to their longevity as the quick solution. Yet as a country we are one of the top 5 countries in waste per capita on earth.

Adrian Butler is chairman of the World Fire Safety Foundation. The Foundation is a non profit global organisation, dedicated to saving lives by exposing the defective nature of the *type* of smoke alarms installed in homes around the world and promoting the safe and affordable alternatives.

Overwhelming evidence proves that ionization smoke alarms that use radio active components are not safe because they do not detect smouldering fires, the type of fire that commonly kills.

The Foundation's website provides evidence of fire-fighter and scientific testing that exposes the existing flawed standards testing, that has allowed ionization smoke alarms to be certified as safe and sold to the public for over forty years.

It is estimated that tens of thousands of people have been injured or killed globally as a direct result of ionization alarms failing to sound a timely warning.

Since April 2004 new legislation requires that certain Australian commercial buildings must install photoelectric smoke alarms in all sleeping areas and exit paths. Despite Standards Australia having now acknowledged that the testing of ionization smoke alarms is flawed, the change to the standard affecting homes continues to be blocked, without justification, putting Australian and New Zealand lives at needless risk.

Zelka Grammer on GE Free Northland and working towards becoming GMO Free.

A mighty shift in how people-power can wrest control away from unconscious central government and place it back in the hands of localised community and conscious consumers is taking place here in Northland, New Zealand.

Not since the heady days of the mid 1980’s when localised groups and councils ‘made’ Nuclear Free Zones across this country, have we seen such a resurgence as ordinary and extraordinary NZer’s through dedication and vision, mobilise to make Northland, NZ a GMO Free Zone.

Listen to an impassioned Zelka Grammer on how GE Free Northland with the help of Maori Iwi, localised growers and supporters plus District Councillors are investigating local options for regulating or prohibiting GMO land use in the Northland Peninsular.

The recent High Court ruling that has overturned ERMA's (Environmental Risk Management Authority) decision to accept applications from AgResearch to release GM animals throughout New Zealand is another step towards sanity and keeping NZ’s prized ‘Clean Green’ image from being tarnished by unethical procedures.

What society would buy toxic waste that is banned in Europe and especially from the country of origin, Belgium and then drip feed it into 60% of another countries public water supply? If that was done to you in your country would you be outraged?

Well, you may have to experience this feeling, because the FANNZ spokes people state that this is happening to the people of NZ. That we are paying Belgium for their toxic waste and we are basically sabotaging the health of the local population here.

Meanwhile, the two main supporters of fluoridation in the USA, the American Dental Association and the Centers for Disease Control warn not to use fluoridated water for infant milk formula. This message is not been communicated to parents here in NZ.

Listen to a very revealing interview about the state of our drinking water in 60% of NZ homes. With the Department of Health aiming to have more fluoridation be piped into more kiwi dwellings.

On October 2, 2009 to January 2, 2010 The World March will encircle islands, continents and our planet, beginning in Aotearoa New Zealand on October 2, 2009, the anniversary of Gandhi’s birth, declared the “International Day of Nonviolence” by the United Nations.

It will conclude in the Andes Mountains (Punta de Vacas, Aconcagua, Argentina) on January 2, 2010. The March will last 90 days, three long months of travel.

Why?

Because we can end world hunger with 10% of what is spent on arms. Imagine how life would be if 30-50% of the arms budget went toward improving people’s lives instead of being used for destruction.

Because eliminating wars and violence means leaving human pre-history behind and taking a giant step forward in the evolution of our species.

Because in this aspiration we are accompanied by the strength of the voices of hundreds of prior generations who suffered the consequences of war, and whose echo continues to be heard today in all those places where it continues to leave its sinister trail of dead, disappeared, disabled, refugees and displaced.

Because a “world without wars” is an image that opens the future and seeks to become reality in every corner of the planet, as violence gives way to dialogue.

Globally humanity is mobilising, for at heart we are realising that if we do not consciously take the power of the people into our own hands and set and shape ours and our childrens future, then it quite possibly will be forced upon us by outside forces. (e.g the Super City).

To be honoured as the only Nuclear Free country on earth, this is a celebration that all NZers can rejoice and support whole heartedly.

Listen to how a young entrepreneur Qiujing Wong uses film to bring to our awareness the many survival challenges of peoples in developing countries.

From the steppes of Mongolia, where displaced farmers and others struggling to come to grips with the rapidly changing localised economy are taught commercial skills and then are assisted to take control of their own business. Then to African grandmothers in Kenya who have found themselves caring for children who have lost both their parents to HIV and Aids, and how money and consciousness was raised to assist them. Plus how Indian women are forming their own banking systems based on low cost loans in Calcutta and for the first time can chart their own course in life.

This dynamic little NZ filming group shows us how to survive and thrive by assisting other cultures and races that brings us into connection that we are all one global family. That the conscious use of media and innovation can facilitate much needed change in countries and peoples that are less fortunate than we, here in NZ.  Yet they do good works in this country too, aiding in bringing attention to people suffering from ailing kidneys.

Listen to how a high quality magazine using social networking, the web and various other innovative alliances, operates to find win/win situations to inspire readers and those who wish to come into an environmental understanding to take action and be part of a positive movement for sustainability.

With the need for all of society and the middle class to “come on board” the truth is, we are already on board Spaceship Earth, the imperative now is, can we aspire to initiate the much needed social, cultural, ethical and commercial changes to make sure that our destination as a sustainable planet is accomplished?

Listen to a powerful proclamation for positivity and optimism towards the challenges we face on earth today.

Frank strongly advocates humanity working towards cooperative participation across all levels of society especially within business. Success comes from taking an active interest in all staff. Warmth, fun and enthusiasm are prerequisites for a dynamic organisation.

A believer that good character and ethics needs to be increasingly emphasized he contends that character is at least important as skills. "You have to have an honest and strong intention to add value to whatever you are dealing with."

The first NZ manager for the Natural Step out of Sweden, Frank gives an insightful understanding of what can and needs to be accomplished to initiate the much-needed local and global changes towards sustainability and peace.

In 1787 a group of 12 men, met in a Quaker bookstore in London. Nine were members of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) and three were Anglicans. These men were determined to abolish the slave trade and through their diligence and dedication the British Parliament passed a law in 1792 banning the slave trade.

In 2003, 39 Quakers met in Wallingford Pennsylvania to consider the moral challenge posed by the global economic system and the heedless destruction of the Earth's ecosystems and failing to serve the well being of hundreds of millions of people.

Listen to a compelling story of a New Vision of the Earth, looking at a Global Federation that will emerge from the grass roots up, and will draw on the aspirations of all of humanity. Based on "Right Relationship" the "Commonwealth" that is life, on "Fairness" and why Ecology needs to in many ways, set the boundaries for the Economy.

Thomas Greco is a community and monetary economist, writer and consultant and a leading Global researcher on the subject of free market alternative currency and monetary systems.

He is founder and director of the non-profit Community Information Resource Center, which supports community improvement and sustainability efforts. British author David Boyle has called Thomas Greco a "pioneer" in the field of local currencies. Greco’s insightful writings are regularly mentioned by alternative currency advocates.

He is a keynote speaker at alternative currency forums around the globe and definitely is a world authority, on both financial issues and for humanity to awaken to the need to become proactive in this field. He has recently toured NZ on speaking engagements.

The key to sustainability in the changing global dynamics is for communities to come together and build networks with business, faith groups, voluntary organisations, schools and the full spectrum of localised community, so as to build a robust system of energy exchange if and when national/global currencies loose value and or credence.

The imperative being, is to have a strategy in place so that localised community can exist as a viable, stable entity, if a sudden downturn was to occur.

His latest book, “The End of Money and the Future of Civilization” from Chelsea Green Publishers is now in print.

With the recent announcement that the National Government of New Zealand will impose super city status on seven local councils over the greater Auckland area, this has caused concern to many people about the methods involved to bring this about.

One of the unique qualities of localised self governance is the closeness of community, cultural identity  and many collaborative ventures between council, small business and neighborhood engagement plus area employment. And yes, we need more integrated transport, and other infrastructural systems, but not without community involvement with powers to act.

With the enforcement to super city status with $28 billion of community assets, such as the Auckland airport stake, (that was recently sold off by the smaller Auckland council) what does the future hold for keeping our community resources in public hands?

With participative democracy needed like never before, you are being asked as an Aucklander to break the spell of inaction and communicate with "our paid servants in Wellington" and demand more transparency and community liaison, participation plus feed back.

This is a call to action

We will gather in the four corners of Auckland and hikoi, convening at the bottom of Queen Street by 9.30am. From there we will walk to the Town Hall, the symbolic heart of the proposed new Council. Here we will hold a free public concert showing the beauty and talent of our people.

Lisa Er was the founder of Lisa's Hummus and prior to that a primary school teacher. She stood as a Green Party candidate in Mt Roskill for the last election.

Since selling her business, Lisa has been steadily building a group who attend a Friday event here in Auckland, called the Forum. In creating and maintaining this Forum for speakers Lisa feels that she is doing a service which assists in the raising of consciousness of the planet. The group has now expanded to Christchurch and will shortly begin in Hawkes Bay.

"If humanity is going to survive as a race, then we clearly need to change our way of living. Underlying our daily activities are our attitudes and beliefs that, as Dr Bruce Lipton confirms, affects our cells and the way we create our collective life. We are not separate, we are one."

Lisa has five principles that she believes would change the way any institution would operate, and if applied everywhere would give us a totally new 'operating manual' for the future."At the moment society operates on survival of the fittest mode. The economy is based on growth and not sustainability, yet, we underestimate the power of nature, and we can feel very helpless in the face of the world's challenges."

Operating from a different belief system while also being active politically are Lisa's answers to the way forward for humanity and in caring for the planet.

Recently from Hawaii, Charlottemarie is an enigmatic performer grounded in ancient knowledge of chant, harmonics and energy that heals.

Through her mesmerizing, multidimensional voice, Charlottemarie presents a field of vibration in song and chant that transforms and elevates, opening hearts and souls to the experience of the unseen world of love and union.

As a humanity we are rapidly learning that we are a sub atomic field of energy that is oscillating at a frequency that aligns us with this reality/dimension. We are coming into the realisation that as a field of energy we can consciously heal our body of pain and many other ailments. Vibrational healing which is more than a modality, is moving towards its ascendancy.

From the healing temples and higher knowledge of the past, we are now able to utilise this knowing and integrate sound therapy by the voice and the harmonics of love into a method of healing that could quite possibly restore to health a large segment of today's global society.
