From the archives: Franchelle Ofsoské-Wyber is a New Zealander of Native American Cherokee descent. She was born with highly developed clairvoyant and healing gifts and comes from a lineage of medicine men and woman.

A shaman and a seer, she is described in Maoridom by various highly respected kaumatua and traditional guardians or keepers of the old wisdom as being a ‘matatuhi - one who can read what is written in the wind’ and a ‘matakite, one who sees with the healing or the third eye.’

She has been specially chosen to carry the spirit connections and healing mantle for various ancient shamanic lineages. She was subsequently formally trained by indigenous elders from various countries including New Zealand in advanced shamanic healing practices.

From the archives: James Samuel of Waiheke island, is assisting in the coordination of a country wide movement called Transition Towns. James has been looking at the issue of localised sustainability within a small community.

What is a Transition Town?
Transition Town initiatives are bringing people together out of a desire to explore how we - and our communities - can respond to the twin challenges of climate change and peak oil. He states he doesn't have all the answers but believes the growing groups are very innovative and can create the required solutions.

Each transition group networks with people engaging in a coordinated range of projects designed to transition from high energy to low energy lifestyles in the most creative manner. Their aim is to re-localise our communities making them vibrant, resilient and truly sustainable.

Though not envisioned, this could also be key in emergencies, as in earthquakes volcanoes etc.

Stunning new scientific discoveries about the biochemical effects of the brain’s functioning show that all the cells of your body are affected by your thoughts. Dr Bruce Lipton, a renowned cell biologist, describes the precise molecular pathways through which this occurs.

His research at Stanford University’s School of Medicine, revealed that the environment, operating though the membrane, controlled the behavior and physiology of the cell, turning genes on and off. His discoveries, which run counter to the established scientific view that life is controlled by the genes, presaged one of today’s most important fields of study, the science of epigenetics.

With recommendations from Joseph Chilten Pearce the Author of Crack in the Cosmic Egg and the Magical Child, Karl Pribram Professor Emeritus, at Stanford, with his theory that memory may be stored in our brain as if in a hologram, and Ralph Abrahams, Ph.D professor of Mathematics, University of California, Santa Cruz, Author of Foundations of Mechanics: Dynamics, the Geometry of Behavior and Chaos, Gaia, Eros. Who states...

“In this paradigm-busting book, Bruce Lipton delivers a TKO to Old Biology. With a left to Darwinian dogma and a right to allopathic medicine, he breaks out of the physicalist box into enlightenment on the mind/body (belief/biology) system. Must read, much fun.”

From Brisbane Australia, New Zealander Graeme Sait is an Author/Educator.

Graeme Sait, is the co-founder of Qld Company, Nutri-Tech Solutions (NTS), a recognised world leader in sustainable agriculture/horticulture. He is a sought after, global keynote speaker, plus the founder of Radiance, a 6 day Wellness Festival that attracts crowds in excess of 12,000. Learn of the profound interdependence of soil microflora of bacteria and fungi that is crucial to plant growth, healthy soil (and sequesting Co2 from the atmosphere). Just like the micro flora in our gut and digestive system, when we are free of chemical additives, everything flourishes and comes back into balance.

Graeme will be in Auckland on Friday the 27th at Earthsong in Waitakere and on Waiheke Island, Saturday the 28th sharing with us his extensive knowledge on the link between soil, health and nutrition.

This week we interview Susie Newborn, a founding member of Greenpeace when activism was pioneering ecological action. She signed the cheque that bought the boat which became the Rainbow Warrior and was the person who gave the boat this name.

Involved in saving whales and harp seals she was on the Rainbow Warrior that was captured by the Spaniards but stealthily escaped causing the admiral of the Spanish fleet to resign.

Susie is a human ecologist of green, social and artistic action and also a mother. Originally from the UK,Susie Newborn now resides on Waiheke Island.

Involved today in films, social justice and eco housing, listen to someone who has lived her life to the full and is still very much involved in community and life.
