Gavin is the sales & social marketing manager at Good Magazine, the Ecological and Sustainability Magazine.

Listen to how a high quality magazine using social networking, the web and various other innovative alliances, operates to find win/win situations to inspire readers and those who wish to come into an environmental understanding to take action and be part of a positive movement for sustainability.

With the need for all of society and the middle class to “come on board” the truth is, we are already on board Spaceship Earth, the imperative now is, can we aspire to initiate the much needed social, cultural, ethical and commercial changes to make sure that our destination as a sustainable planet is accomplished?

Listen to a powerful proclamation for positivity and optimism towards the challenges we face on earth today.

Frank strongly advocates humanity working towards cooperative participation across all levels of society especially within business. Success comes from taking an active interest in all staff. Warmth, fun and enthusiasm are prerequisites for a dynamic organisation.

A believer that good character and ethics needs to be increasingly emphasized he contends that character is at least important as skills. "You have to have an honest and strong intention to add value to whatever you are dealing with."

The first NZ manager for the Natural Step out of Sweden, Frank gives an insightful understanding of what can and needs to be accomplished to initiate the much-needed local and global changes towards sustainability and peace.

In 1787 a group of 12 men, met in a Quaker bookstore in London. Nine were members of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) and three were Anglicans. These men were determined to abolish the slave trade and through their diligence and dedication the British Parliament passed a law in 1792 banning the slave trade.

In 2003, 39 Quakers met in Wallingford Pennsylvania to consider the moral challenge posed by the global economic system and the heedless destruction of the Earth's ecosystems and failing to serve the well being of hundreds of millions of people.

Listen to a compelling story of a New Vision of the Earth, looking at a Global Federation that will emerge from the grass roots up, and will draw on the aspirations of all of humanity. Based on "Right Relationship" the "Commonwealth" that is life, on "Fairness" and why Ecology needs to in many ways, set the boundaries for the Economy.

Hear of many interesting and staggering insights to what has gone on and what inspiring things are been put into motion.

Adrian Butler is chairman of the World Fire Safety Foundation. The Foundation is a non profit global organisation, dedicated to saving lives by exposing the defective nature of the *type* of smoke alarms installed in homes around the world and promoting the safe and affordable alternatives.

Overwhelming evidence proves that ionization smoke alarms that use radio active components are not safe because they do not detect smouldering fires, the type of fire that commonly kills.

The Foundation's website provides evidence of fire-fighter and scientific testing that exposes the existing flawed standards testing, that has allowed ionization smoke alarms to be certified as safe and sold to the public for over forty years.

It is estimated that tens of thousands of people have been injured or killed globally as a direct result of ionization alarms failing to sound a timely warning.

Since April 2004 new legislation requires that certain Australian commercial buildings must install photoelectric smoke alarms in all sleeping areas and exit paths. Despite Standards Australia having now acknowledged that the testing of ionization smoke alarms is flawed, the change to the standard affecting homes continues to be blocked, without justification, putting Australian and New Zealand lives at needless risk.

Thomas Greco is a community and monetary economist, writer and consultant and a leading Global researcher on the subject of free market alternative currency and monetary systems.

He is founder and director of the non-profit Community Information Resource Center, which supports community improvement and sustainability efforts. British author David Boyle has called Thomas Greco a "pioneer" in the field of local currencies. Greco’s insightful writings are regularly mentioned by alternative currency advocates.

He is a keynote speaker at alternative currency forums around the globe and definitely is a world authority, on both financial issues and for humanity to awaken to the need to become proactive in this field. He has recently toured NZ on speaking engagements.

The key to sustainability in the changing global dynamics is for communities to come together and build networks with business, faith groups, voluntary organisations, schools and the full spectrum of localised community, so as to build a robust system of energy exchange if and when national/global currencies loose value and or credence.

The imperative being, is to have a strategy in place so that localised community can exist as a viable, stable entity, if a sudden downturn was to occur.

His latest book, “The End of Money and the Future of Civilization” from Chelsea Green Publishers is now in print.

With the recent announcement that the National Government of New Zealand will impose super city status on seven local councils over the greater Auckland area, this has caused concern to many people about the methods involved to bring this about.

One of the unique qualities of localised self governance is the closeness of community, cultural identity  and many collaborative ventures between council, small business and neighborhood engagement plus area employment. And yes, we need more integrated transport, and other infrastructural systems, but not without community involvement with powers to act.

With the enforcement to super city status with $28 billion of community assets, such as the Auckland airport stake, (that was recently sold off by the smaller Auckland council) what does the future hold for keeping our community resources in public hands?

With participative democracy needed like never before, you are being asked as an Aucklander to break the spell of inaction and communicate with "our paid servants in Wellington" and demand more transparency and community liaison, participation plus feed back.

This is a call to action

On May 25 there will be a Hikoi where New Zealanders from all persuasions can join us to say out loud that this proposal is flawed and will become flawed law if passed. This is the anniversary of the Bastion Point evictions.

We will gather in the four corners of Auckland and hikoi, convening at the bottom of Queen Street by 9.30am. From there we will walk to the Town Hall, the symbolic heart of the proposed new Council. Here we will hold a free public concert showing the beauty and talent of our people.

Lisa Er was the founder of Lisa's Hummus and prior to that a primary school teacher. She stood as a Green Party candidate in Mt Roskill for the last election.

Since selling her business, Lisa has been steadily building a group who attend a Friday event here in Auckland, called the Forum. In creating and maintaining this Forum for speakers Lisa feels that she is doing a service which assists in the raising of consciousness of the planet. The group has now expanded to Christchurch and will shortly begin in Hawkes Bay.

"If humanity is going to survive as a race, then we clearly need to change our way of living. Underlying our daily activities are our attitudes and beliefs that, as Dr Bruce Lipton confirms, affects our cells and the way we create our collective life. We are not separate, we are one."

Lisa has five principles that she believes would change the way any institution would operate, and if applied everywhere would give us a totally new 'operating manual' for the future."At the moment society operates on survival of the fittest mode. The economy is based on growth and not sustainability, yet, we underestimate the power of nature, and we can feel very helpless in the face of the world's challenges."

Operating from a different belief system while also being active politically are Lisa's answers to the way forward for humanity and in caring for the planet.

Recently from Hawaii, Charlottemarie is an enigmatic performer grounded in ancient knowledge of chant, harmonics and energy that heals.

Through her mesmerizing, multidimensional voice, Charlottemarie presents a field of vibration in song and chant that transforms and elevates, opening hearts and souls to the experience of the unseen world of love and union.

As a humanity we are rapidly learning that we are a sub atomic field of energy that is oscillating at a frequency that aligns us with this reality/dimension. We are coming into the realisation that as a field of energy we can consciously heal our body of pain and many other ailments. Vibrational healing which is more than a modality, is moving towards its ascendancy.

From the healing temples and higher knowledge of the past, we are now able to utilise this knowing and integrate sound therapy by the voice and the harmonics of love into a method of healing that could quite possibly restore to health a large segment of today's global society.

Dr Bruce Lipton, (currently in New Zealand), is author of the popular book;Biology of Belief, Unleashing the Power of Consciousness, Matter and Miracles, was awarded 2006’s Best Science Book of the Year.

The new sciences quantum physics and epigenetics are revolutionising our understanding of the link between mind and matter, challenging established scientific theories and prompting a complete re-evaluation of life as we have known it.

The significance of this shift in belief is vast in that the original view led to the notion that we are victims of our biology. Whereas the ‘new’ sciences show that we are actually masters of our biology.

Bruce has taken his award-winning medical school lectures to the public and is currently a sought after keynote speaker and workshop presenter. He lectures to conventional and complementary medical professionals and lay audiences about leading-edge science and how it dovetails with mind-body medicine and spiritual principles.

He has been heartened by anecdotal reports from hundreds of former audience members who have improved their spiritual, physical and mental well being by applying the principles he discusses in his lectures. He is regarded as one of the leading voices of the new biology.

Mantak Chia is an author, teacher and self-described healer. He is best known for his books and teachings on Taoism and qigong.

Mantak Chia is a controversial figure in Taoism, alternately praised for public disclosure of long-held secrets and criticised for such a heavy focus on Taoist sexual practices. Mantak Chia claims to make esoteric Taoist practices more accessible to a modern Western audience.

What is taught is a variety of qigong and neigong practices. Fusion of the Five Elements is a central neidan practice that are intended to balance qi or chi, a universal energy that all humans can access. The microcosmic orbit, or "waterwheel" exercise, is a central technique used to channel and circulate qi in many other exercises. The principal aim of most practices Chia advocates is the balancing of energy and the creation of spiritual alchemical "inner elixirs.

In a world that is increasingly challenged by ecological, financial and intensifying social forces, the imperative is to function at our highest level of health and wellbeing, both in our inner world and our outer world. By being acutely aware of our energy levels, as well as being present in the now, certain Taost practices as taught by Mantak Chia, can assist us as we both navigate life and instigate positive change in our community and our daily life.

Pete Russell is the "initiator of www.ooooby.org here on Waiheke Island, Auckland, that is rapidly spreading from the grass roots up, as a process of producing goods and products from your own back yard, especially gardens and then finding ways to share, barter or sell to other neighbours in the community.

This is a New Zealand first, that pulls the strands of community together around your physical and virtual backyard using the internet as the medium of social networking.

See how this grass roots system is rapidly spreading here and that it’s a direct interface with Transition Towns, www.transitiontowns.org.nz which is another level up where people across the land and in other countries are mobilizing themselves and resources. They are finding new and innovative ways to survive and thrive healthily in these rapidly changing times of climate change, financial fallout, energy costs and fluctuations, and the resulting social dilemma and confusion.

Ooooby.org will inspire you to find new neighbours who care, want to share and bring family and community together from out of your own back door and back yard. A win win win for all involved.

As an independent Officer of New Zealand’s Parliament, the Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment has wide-ranging powers to investigate environmental concerns. 'Independent' means independent of the government of the day, so the PCE reports not to a Government Minister but to Parliament through:

  • the Speaker of the House
  • the Officers of Parliament Committee.

As an Officer of Parliament, the Commissioner's job is to hold the Government to account for its environmental policies and actions. The PCE is a policy reviewer standing outside the system of environmental management and reporting on it.

The Commissioner has wide powers to investigate and report on any matter where, in her opinion, the environment may be, or has been, adversely affected. Parliament or any parliamentary select committee may also ask her to report on environmental matters.

Dave arrived in New Zealand in 1981, became a naturalized citizen and married a New Zealander.   In the United States he worked for 17 years in aerospace electronics for TRW Systems, acquired seven US patents and won awards from the United States government two years in a row for contributing to the most significant electronic achievement in the USA.  Both of these had to do with designing and creating integrated micro-electronic circuits that could withstand atomic bomb blasts.

In New Zealand he directed the 'Design For The Sun' passive solar energy programme for the NZ government for seven years and taught for five years at the University of Auckland.  He developed and promoted 29 solar houses across the country and wrote the solar energy building design manual now used by architects and university students.  He then became an organisational development consultant with a number of large NZ companies, providing a focus on leadership and organisational change.

As Founding Director of Anew NZ, he is leading a collaborative initiative, "What Matters Most to New Zealanders" which is a long term citizen-based initiative, to stimulate national renewal and help shape the future of New Zealand - by redefining progress from simple economic terms (like GDP) to a broad set of goals for all people - through a network of networks from civil society, business and government, and robust community engagement that creates three functions:  a think tank, public shared visions and the development of a set of progress indicators and two means of delivery, to inform policy makers and empower civil society to take direct action.

Outputs include:

1.        Public shared future visions for New Zealand.

2.        Measures of Genuine Progress (and "genuine economic success") as a challenge to the misuse of GDP, via the measurements of social, cultural, economic, environmental and governance wellbeing -  with the public shared visions determining the goals of wellbeing.

3.        Think Tank Research that informs the visioning process and identifies and measures "horizontal linkages" between the indicators (e.g. health and economic) and "vertical linkages" between "what matters most to New Zealanders" and the government policies that enhance or inhibit
achieving these goals (which includes developing a strategy for a sustainable economic future).

4.        A policy tool, guiding evidence-based planning and action to address the issues identified as important to the people of New Zealand.

5.        A reporting tool, tracking and communicating progress toward agreed goals and outcomes in the economic, social, cultural and environmental sectors.

6.        A democratic tool for engaging citizens and communities to act on the goals set by them.

Outcomes include:

1.      Catalyzes positive change towards greater wellbeing and sustainability.

2.      Strengthens representative and participative democracy.

3.      Shifts the policy and public focus from economic to overall system performance.

Jon Eisen publisher and editor of “Uncensored,” New Zealand’s only magazine that does not censor its readers.  So what compels someone to go so far out on a limb to publish their version of reality and sets up a debate on what is real, what is the truth, and who are we to believe?

With huge question marks around 911, what your Doctor will never tell you, media manipulation, the dumbing down of the populace, UFO’s, Obama, Israel, World Government, GE, suppressed everything, global warming and more. Why does "Uncensored" the magazine with attitude, shake people to their core and cause people to react?

With the Western world now feeding from less and less independent news and media outlets, where and how is the populous going to obtain the information that will assist in finding one's moral compass to delve into the swamp of sameness to drag out what could be the truth?

We are a humanity that have freewill, are we going to become responsible and grapple with the hard issues and as community, shape our own future from the grass roots up, or are we going to slide into sloth and give our power away?

Do you love your children and grand children?  The choice is always ours.

Noeline Levinson is a Sound therapist recently from South Africa, who uses a technique called the Tomatis method and uses the music of Mozart at various frequencies to stimulate different parts of the ear and thereby stimulating different parts of the brain.

Noeline has worked mostly with children who have learning and behavioural challenges and feels it is important to work with a team of practitioners. Depending on what is causing the child stress, different modalities are chosen to assist in the process.

The focus looks at emotional and physical trauma, chemical toxicity (pollution), nutrition, immunization and dehydration. This sound therapy addresses any maturational delays and prepares the brain for learning. We all know that we respond to music, and through the ages music has been there to soothe us, invigorate us, motivate us and generally to enhance our emotional state.

This method of sound therapy is very profound, it not only stimulates the brain, but every organ and cell in the body receives the music. It has an affect on our emotional, physical and spiritual self.

With 26 years in sustainable systems, design, leadership and philosophy Brendan has also explored traditional food production spending much time in Asia learning this process.

The urgency is to convert NZ to a new era in farming to horticulture, and the Asian model that supports large populations has many sustainable possibilities.

In essence, a new Gaian (whole Geo systems) thinking needs to be enacted where we can turn crises into opportunity.

Brendan has degrees in agricultural systems and horticulture … plus regional and urban landscaping and rural development.

Executive Chair and founder of econation2020 Trust, he has just completed lecturing in Sustainable Horticulture and Resource Management Degree program at Unitec NZ.

Sue Kedgley, is currently the Chairperson of the New Zealand Parliament Health Committee, a Green Member of Parliament for 9 years and her most recent book, is titled Eating Safely in a Toxic World.

The interview covers, food labeling, irradiated food, poor quality food in hospitals, retirement villages and prisons, diet and sugar drinks, deteriorating teeth, education to what is a good diet and political party politics. Also, Codex and TGA effects from Australia where we get an insight to the state of affairs of Health across NZ and the way out, by growing our own vegetables in our own back yard.

Sue tells us as it is, in the way food is processed and consumed in NZ and the huge challenge around changing food and eating habits. Particularly, ways that empower the individual and family to once again take charge of our choices on what we can do, to get closer to our food source and become a strong healthy nation once again.

Can it be said that if we have an inner landscape that is muddled and contaminated with dysfunctional and fragmented thoughts, that the outcome will be mirrored in the outside world that we experience on our planet today?

If so, can we transform this state of mind - of being, and turn it all completely around into becoming a quintessential, peaceful, joyful soul at one with the world as family?

Valli Waugh is Certified in the United States in “The Work” of Byron Katie. He is currently mentoring candidates from around the world in the Byron Katie International Certification program, and supporting new mentors in their mentoring of candidates.

Our suffering comes from believing the stressful thoughts in our minds. That is how we pollute and poison our world. The Work of Byron Katie is a simple and very powerful way of identifying those thoughts and questioning them.

When we question them with an open mind we find a world that isn't polluted by our stressful stories. We discover a life that is kinder and more loving and peaceful. That's who we already are, when we are not believing the painful stories in our minds.

Jeffrey Masson is an American author, known for his revisionist conclusions about Sigmund Freud and psychoanalysis. As Director of the Sigmund Freud Archives after his death and with full access to Freud's correspondence and other unpublished papers, his insights could be seen to be compelling.

However, he is best known for his books on animals and animal rights.

Listen to a staunch advocate for animals, especially farm animals, cows, pigs and poultry and the problems with factory farming, particularly overseas.

With human separation from nature and the many unconscious practices that are predominant today, can we mitigate this by more animal rights and migrating to eating less meat to becoming a vegan?

Green entrepreneur and Councilor since 2001, Wayne has 30 years of ecological and environmental experience, as well as a university commerce degree in management, organisation and project management. His commercial background is in retail, manufacturing, product development and project management.

Listen to one of the most coherent exponents of visionary sustainability in NZ local body politics today. As climate change awakens us from our lethargy, we find that there are people in the community who are making conscious decisions to bring about a future that will give the younger generation a sense of purpose and focus.

Wayne's practical and sensible understanding of the current relationship of humanity to life in the biosphere is common sense and needs to be applauded. His ability to out-picture the limited understanding of the status quo, by applying far reaching blue prints towards our common future needs the support of a conscious electorate - both locally and globally.

Warwick, a New Zealander, has spent 20 years developing a world leading technology that under one umbrella eliminates industrial and household waste, turning it into a valuable resource for manufacturing many different products, but most important it recovers the energy from waste.

This system is a global first and is so necessary for today, as one of the greatest attributes of this system is that it reduces CO2 and methane going into the atmosphere from landfills. By doing this he is able to eliminate all landfills.

Warwick worked with scientists on floating Arctic ice ‘islands’ for two years, which have subsequently melted. He has first hand experience on declining polar ice due to warming of the world’s oceans, which are reaching a critical threshold. He sees the elimination of methane gas, a super potent greenhouse gas from landfills and atmosphere as a major step to remediation and sustainability.
